Photography is more than my career - it’s a part of me

I remember being young, growing up in a suburb of Cleveland Ohio. There I was, riding skateboards off the front porch, or trying to jump bikes off the new driveway extension we had poured. I remember coming home from school and eating goldfish while watching Bob Ross paint pictures, and hearing him tell me how everything was possible, because this is our little world. I guess you could say what I remember most from my childhood is: feeling like the world was full of wonder, and I wanted to explore more of it. I didn’t grow up in an area with mountains, raging rivers, or an obvious action sports scene. In fact, I didn’t even grow up in an area where photography was a highly prevalent career. But I did grow up believing that all these things were possible. Today I feel like, more than anything else, I’m still just searching to see a bit more of what is possible, and to bring an extra bit of adventure to life with my art. This search has given me the privilege of working alongside some fantastic clients, bringing dynamic visuals to those who share and my quest. It has also given me the privilege of sharing this passion for image making with many photographers who are also searching for more. So often we feel called to a vision - but the tools seem to get in the way.

Since 2013, I have been teaching skills like photography fundamentals, lighting, and post production. In both group and 1-on-1 sessions, I’ve found so much joy in seeing photographers move beyond their tools, and master them.
